Old News: Saving Face

14 February 2006

Has anyone considered that the reason why we haven't captured Osama bin Laden is because we shouldn't capture him? Without him as the "symbol of all that's evil in the world," on what would we focus in the war on terror? Bin Laden gives our struggle a "face." We need him to continue playing that role. Perhaps our forces really have him "cordoned off" in some section of Pakistan or Afghanistan, where he's free to move about. But he's always in our sights. We know where he is.

Think about it. If we can find Saddam Hussein in a tiny, concealed spider hole in the middle of the Iraqi desert, then we can find and capture bin Laden. But we won't.
