I probably should have explained my moniker and the name of this blog in my first post, but I didn't feel like it then, and I do now, so here it is.
Let's do the easy part first: "Explains It All" comes from the old Melissa Joan Hart TV series Clarissa Explains It All, back in the early 90s. I remember watching a few segments of a few episodes only a few times, but my lasting memory was of its distinctive theme song, which went something like "na, na, na-na ... na na-na na-na," and then some voice-overs like "way cool," "all right, all right" and "just do it." It's on my iPod and I think I gave it a 4-out-of-5-star rating. All right, all right.
"Edzo" is a unique variation of my given name, "Ed," which was coined in the early 80s by my friend Kevin, who was inspired by our friend Jeffrey's sister's hot Italian boyfriend at the time, "Enzo." Get it? Way cool.
"Lord" comes from two sources. First, I was officially proclaimed "Lord Edzo" on 17 March 1991 A.D. by King Henry's Feast, an entertainment banquet attraction in Orlando, Florida. I have the parchment to prove it, too, so I really am a lord, all-right all-right?
Second, I began enforcing the use of my noble title sometime in the late 90s, when my work colleague, Diane, would come over to ask me a question and address me merely as "Edzo," after which I would continually have to correct her that it was Lord Edzo. I was reminded of this method of emphasis by an episode of the original Star Trek, "Whom Gods Destroy," in which former Fleet Captain Garth, now mentally ill, insisted that Captain Kirk address him as Lord Garth.
Oh, and because I'm a lord, and accorded all the rights and privileges thereof, I recently extended my formal title to "The Right Noble Lord Edzo, Imperious Leader, Paramount Ruler, Master and Commander-in-Chief."
However, you have my permission to address me simply as "lord" or "my lord." Even the medieval form "milord" is way cool, so just do it, all-right all-right?
No, I am not deranged. ;)
