Finally ... some good news from USA Network this past week: New episodes of Law & Order: Criminal Intent will begin airing this spring.
Can't say I'm particularly excited about the addition of Jeff Goldblum, who's stepping into the vacancy left by the great Chris Noth ("Det. Mike Logan"). However, I'm not against it either; I'll just wait and see.
I've always loved Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe best as "Det. Robert Goren" and "Det. Alexandra Eames," respectively. Goren's my all-time fave ... D'Onofrio has made this character into one of the oddest, and yet most fascinating, characters on TV — ever. You gotta love him ... and Erbe's "Eames" is his perfect counterpart because she's down-to-earth, cop-smart, street-smart, and her subtle "wisecracks" never fail to make me smile, or, at most, guffaw like a madman.
I'm particularly interested in where the producers are going to steer Goren's character, because, in last fall's season finale, his multitroubled "slate" was basically "wiped clean" — mother passed on, brother murdered, and arch-nemesis "Nicole Wallace" (Olivia D'Abo) defeated and dead.
Here's looking forward to some great, new stuff for this most fantastic of characters ... the epitome of USA Network's slogan, "Characters Welcome."

Thanks...!!
ReplyDeleteYou really nailed it...
Vincent D'Onofrio is definitly one of the -if not actually the one- most talented, brilliant, hard working actors on tv; and let's not forget his several amazing, award-deserving peformance on the big screen.
Ms. Erbe's doing a truly remarkable job on CI, too.
Hope that USA Network Seriously considers acting upon their slogan "Characters Welcome"- and take no chances on ever losing either one of them.....
Saghy
Amen to that, Saghy! And you're right about D'Onofrio's many memorable scenes ... the one that always comes to mind is when that kid "Connie" belts Goren in the interview room ... Bobby recoils, comes back, grabs the kid, and only then does he shout in Connie's face, "Ow!"
